College football analyst Paul Finebaum termed two teams as overrated in the AP preseason top 25 poll. The AP poll was released Monday ahead of the college football season which begins in a week's time.

Although the preseason poll doesn't have an impact on the games or who will be in the playoff, it is an exciting time for fans to look at where their favorite team may be ranked.

Finebaum, however, thinks Penn State and FSU are overrated in the rankings, as the Nittany Lions.

“I kind of struggled between Florida State and Penn State,” Paul Finebaum said on Get Up (via On3). “Where is Florida State in the rankings? Are they in the top 10? They’re both overrated.”

FSU did win the ACC last season and is favored to win the conference again, but Finebaum doesn't see it happening.

“Quite frankly, Florida State lost a majority of the bulk of its defense and, quite frankly, the schedule — they have Miami and Notre Dame fairly close together on the road,” Finebaum said. “I think this is all hype. I don’t think Florida State is gonna be anywhere near that ranking.”

The Seminoles will play in Ireland in the Aer Lingus College Football Classic against Georgia Tech and do have notable games against Clemson, Notre Dame, Florida and Memphis.

FSU preparing to play in Ireland

The Florida State Seminoles will open its 2024 college football season in Week 0 on Aug. 24 against Georgia Tech in Ireland.

Ahead of the trip to Ireland, Seminoles head coach Mike Norvell said his team has done plenty of research to make sure they are ready to compete overseas:

“Just to be able to continue in the research in that and it’s one of the things that we’ve tried to do from multiple different sources. Guys who have had experience of it. But also making sure that we’re looking at a variety of different options.
"Guys that have done it at both levels and different things that they would implement and things that try to eliminate going down the wrong path just through others’ experiences."

After the game in Ireland, FSU will then play Boston College at home on Sept. 2. The Seminoles are +290 to win the ACC, which is ahead of Clemson at +350, while FSU is +140 to make the college football playoff.
