Amid Big 12 expansion rumors, CFB insider drops conference realignment predictions for FSU & Clemson over next 2 years

College football insider Greg Swaim shared a college football realignment prediction. With Florida State and Clemson suing the ACC to leave the conference, Swaim doesn't think it will happen for a couple of years.

FSU and Clemson are both locked into the ACC for the next two years, but Swaim projects both schools to leave the ACC by 2026.

"I expect that both FSU and #Clemson will get something done before August 15th of 2025 though, so 2026 will very likely be their last seasons in the league...along with as many as four to six other teams currently in the ACC. Although we'll know who, where and when long before then, and quite possibly even before the current season ends," Swaim reported.

FSU and Clemson are frustrated with the media rights deal and have made it clear they want to leave the ACC.

But, as Swaim says, FSU and Clemson are at least locked into the ACC for at least two more years.

FSU and Clemson linked to Big 12 expansion

With Swaim expecting FSU and Clemson to leave the ACC, both schools have been linked to the Big 12.

The Big 12 has been adamant and is reportedly interested in expanding to try and keep up with the Big Ten and SEC as the premier conferences in college football.

Swaim linked both schools to the Big 12, as the conference could offer them unequal revenue sharing to entice them to join the conference.

"The #Big12 learned with the #Sooners and #Longhorns that unequal revenue sharing just doesn't work. However, to help buy #FSU and #Clemson out of their #ACC deal, as long as they sign a long term deal...now that's a horse of a different color!!," Swaim reported.

It will be interesting to see if Clemson and FSU end up going to the Big 12.

But, for at least the 2024 and 2025 seasons, both schools could remain in the ACC and are among the favorites to win the conference. FSU is the favorite at +290, while Clemson is +350, as it could be one of the final seasons either school competes for the ACC championship.
