Alex Orji took center stage on Saturday as the Michigan Wolverines’ quarterback issues showed no signs of going away. The Wolverines (4-1, 2-0 Big Ten) were up against the Washington Huskies (3-2, 1-1 Big Ten), whom they had defeated in last year’s national championship.

Orji couldn’t provide stability to the Wolverines against a resurgent Huskies defense and was benched in the second quarter by coach Sherrone Moore, who brought in Jack Tuttle to replace him. Two early TDs from Will Rogers, the new quarterback in Washington replacing Michael Penix Jr. from last year, set the tone in favor of the Huskies.

On the other hand, Michigan's new QB, replacing J.J. McCarthy from last season and first-choice QB David Warren, couldn't give them the same start. Fans rushed to X with tons of reactions. One fan bluntly wrote,

"Alex Orji getting benched is hilarious for many reasons," says another referring to all kinds of Michigan's problems at QB position.
"When does Alex Orji play? Oh wait….🤣😭," joked another.
"How was Alex Orji ever in the QB room?" wrote another.

The Wolverines lost to the Huskies 24-17. They'll need to figure out their quarterback.

Former Atlanta WR slams Alex Orji, calls Michigan "overrated"

Harry Douglas, former Atlanta wide receiver, had strong words for Michigan QB Alex Orji ahead of the Wolverines' matchup against Washington. Douglas called Orji’s performance “troubling” and had a critical assessment of Michigan’s offense.

“When you can’t pass for 100 yards in a college football game, that’s troubling to me,” Douglas said, pointing to the team’s one-dimensional play, which heavily relies on the running game.

Douglas voiced his concerns on ESPN’s College Football YouTube channel, where he lashed out at Michigan saying,

“So when it comes to the pass game, when you can’t get that run game going against whatever component that you’re playing against, your one dimensional and we see that versus the University of Texas when they came up to Ann Arbor, I think it’s safe to say it’s a rebuilding here for Michigan.”
