The Miami (OH) RedHawks take on the 17th-ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish at Notre Dame Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Both teams are seemingly trending in opposite directions, so this should be an interesting clash of styles.

The RedHawks (0-2) are looking to secure their first win of the season as they are on a two-game losing streak after a 27-16 home loss to the Cincinnati Bearcats last Saturday. Senior quarterback Brett Gabbert finished the game going 23 of 35 for 339 yards with a pair of touchdown passes to one interception.

The Fighting Irish (2-1) are coming off last Saturday's dominant 66-7 road win over the Purdue Boilermakers. Senior quarterback Riley Leonard was not asked to do too much and finished 11 of 16 for 112 yards through the air but added 11 carries for 100 yards (9.1 yards per attempt) with three rushing touchdowns.

Miami (OH) vs. Notre Dame prediction

There is a significant difference between the Miami RedHawks and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish throughout the regular season thus far. Miami has struggled as it is 0-2 against the spread while Notre Dame sits at 2-1 against the spread up to this point.

This game should be a defensive showing as Blane Gabbert and Riley Leonard have combined to throw for two touchdowns to five interceptions up to this point. Both programs also run the ball continuously, as the RedHawks average 22.5 rushing attempts per game while the Fighting Irish record 35.3 rushing attempts per game.

With these teams running the football so much, the clock will continue to tick down, and it will be more difficult to score touchdowns as there are fewer total plays. Both defenses have also done great, as the RedHawks allow 17.7 points per game while the Fighting Irish give up 12.0 points per game.

There is a major gap offensively, as Notre Dame has shown the ability to dominate after last week's 66-point performance. All in all, expect the Notre Dame Fighting Irish to cover the spread at home and the under to hit in this matchup.
