Five questions that Lane Kiffin may be asked during SEC Media days

5) Can Ole Miss live up to expectations?

The Rebels had a successful 2023 season, and many are thinking that the 2024 Ole Miss side will be able to repeat this success. The side is mostly the same as the 2023 side, with star quarterback Jaxson Dart returning for another year with the program. If he can improve on his success in 2023, Ole Miss will be able to be a competitive program in the SEC.

However, the team will be without running back Quinshon Judkins, who transferred to the Ohio State Buckeyes in the off-season.

4) Will the absence of Quinshon Judkins have an impact on the Rebels run game?

Judkins was the Rebels' main contributor to the program's run game during the 2023 season. In total, he recorded 1,158 rushing yards and scored 15 touchdowns. Judkins recorded more than double the yardage of the second-best rusher on the team, Ulysses Bentley IV.

Luckily for Ole Miss, Bentley is returning for his senior year and could step up and fill the gap as the program's main running back.

3) Can the defense perform?

Lane Kiffin's programs are known for having a strong offense and putting lots of points on the board. The 2023 Ole Miss Rebels were like this, scoring on average 35 points per game and scoring 457 points in the season.

However, the defense struggled to perform at times, meaning that the advantage made by the offense would only be small once the defense had struggled.

The Rebels lost three defensive players in the NFL draft, and while they have picked up a few defensemen in the off-season, Kiffin will need to answer to see if these players will lead to long-term improvement.

2) What did he think about Jay Norvell's comments?

Earlier this week, Colorado State head coach Jay Norvell accused the Ole Miss Rebels (alongside a few other programs) of tampering.

There has been no response to these comments from Lane Kiffin yet, but it should be expected that Kiffin will be asked during the SEC media days about this.

1) How is he coping after the death of his father?

On Friday, Lane Kiffin's father, Monte Kiffin, passed away, aged 84. Monte had over 30 years of experience as an assistant coach for both college football programs and NFL teams.
