The Kansas Jayhawks are expecting to improve, and coach Lance Leipold provided a Jalon Daniels injury update during the 2024 Big 12 Media Days.

"Jalon is doing everything," Leipold said. "We've gotten a lot of opinions. He's making the throws he's supposed to be making. I know this: I try not to ask Jalon Daniels more than once a week how he's doing. Everyone asks him that. You can wear a young man out with that question.
"I'll be told if anything is going on. Mentally, it gives him a chance to go about his business. He wouldn't be here today if we didn't think he would be ready this season."

The expectation this season is that there will be no reason that people would need a Jalon Daniels injury update. He was limited to just three games in the 2023 season due to back issues. He finished 56 of 75 (74.7%) for 705 yards with five touchdowns to one interception.

What should the Kansas Jayhawks expect out of Jalon Daniels in 2024?

The Kansas Jayhawks had an excellent season in 2023 despite missing starting quarterback Jalon Daniels for all but three games as they finished 9-4. They made a bowl game for the first time in 15 years, so they should be in a good position to win double-digit games.

With some talented skill position players like running back Devin Neal as well as some solid wide receivers, the Jayhawks should be able to take an additional step offensively during the 2024 season.

Jalon Daniels is going to be coming into this season with a chip on his shoulder after missing a majority of the previous year. The Kansas Jayhawks are going to be a solid team in the Big 12 with a majority of players returning. With no Jason Bean on the roster, this is a chance for Daniels to re-prove his ability to control the game.
