There is a battle between struggling teams in Conference USA action on Friday evening at Fifth Third Stadium between the Jacksonville State Gamecocks and Kennesaw State Owls. Both teams need to begin their Conference USA season on the right foot as their overall records are not up to par so far this campaign.

The Gamecocks (1-3, 0-0 Conference USA) are looking to build upon their Sept. 21 home victory over the Southern Miss Golden Eagles after being off in Week 5. Senior quarterback Tyler Huff had a solid game as he finished 14-of-16 for 236 yards with a touchdown pass and an interception. He also ran the ball 11 times for 77 yards with an additional rushing touchdown.

The Owls, meanwhile, (0-4, 0-0) are looking to get into the win column as they are coming off a 24-13 home loss to the UT Martin Skyhawks on Saturday. Sophomore quarterback Davis Bryson struggled as he went 16-of-34 for 117 yards with a pair of interceptions as well as six carries for 27 yards.

Jacksonville State vs. Kennesaw State prediction

This game can go either way when looking at the spread. Instead, these teams are going to score the football well in this game. Huff has run in a pair of touchdowns and for the anytime touchdown to hit, he needs to either run a touchdown in or be a receiver for it as throwing for one will not constitute a winning bet.

Huff is averaging 14.3 rushing attempts in his last three games so that will significantly help us out when the Gamecocks are in the red zone. Even with Huff's rushing ability, Jacksonville State's running back Tre Stewart is going to run the football as he is coming off running for a season-high 86 rushing yards in their last game against Southern Miss.

Kennesaw State is giving up 4.1 yards per carry and 136.8 rushing yards per game so Stewart should be able to run well in this game as well.
