The No. 12-ranked Utah Utes (3-0) will play the No. 14-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys (3-0) on Saturday, but Utes quarterback Cam Rising's status is uncertain.

Rising was injured in the Utes' Week 2 matchup against Baylor, and it kept him out of last week's game against Utah State. However, Utah coach Kyle Whittingham told reporters that the plan is for Rising to return this week.

Rising was injured in the second quarter of Utah's 23-12 win against Baylor. He hurt his ring finger after he was pushed out of bounds and into the Gatorade coolers. The injury was to his throwing hand, so all eyes will be on him this week to see if he is throwing normally.

When will Cam Rising return?

Rising is expected to return this week for Utah's matchup against Oklahoma State. However, he is a game time decision for now. CFB insider Pete Thamel shared the latest update on X.

While Whittingham left the door open for Rising to sit out by only saying the plan was for him to come back, wide receiver Dorian Singer confirmed it, saying:

"He's going to be ready to go this week. We're expecting the sam ethings as where he left off, even better. We're expecting the whole offense to rally around him, all the guys rally around him, and we're going to go out and get this thing."

Additionally, Rising was made available to the media ahead of this week's game, which is usually a good sign of availability. In his media appearance, Rising expressed his excitement for coming back, especially in such a big matchup. He said:

"That's all you ever dreamed of as a kid is just playing in big-time football games. And this is a great Oklahoma State team, so just chomping at the bit to get out there and get his thing going finally."
"I think they're a damn good team. I got a lot of respect for coach Gundy. He's always been one of my favorite coaches in college football for the past few years. I think their team plays hard. They do it the right way, and they like to play a lot of man coverage — so excited for the opportunity to play them. And looking forward to being in Stillwater."
