Georgia Tech vs North Carolina: Preview

Georgia Tech is a six-point favorite to defeat North Carolina. The over/under is set at 59 points.

Georgia Tech is coming off a 24-14 home win over Duke to improve to 4-2 on the season. The Yellow Jackets were led by quarterback Haynes King who threw for 167 yards and two touchdowns.

It was a disappointing offensive game for Georgia Tech and coach Brent Key says the offense was too constricted once again.

"Yeah we got it a little too constricted the last few weeks and playing in a phone booth a little bit. So we wanted to make sure that we spread it out, worked the field, not just north and south, but east and west as well," Brent Key said, via SI.
"We've got guys that are explosive with the ball in their hand. And really the biggest challenge of that was Haynes negotiating throw past those defensive ends. I mean, they're in raised charges up the field, almost the whole game. So that was the challenge."

King has thrown for 1,441 yards, eight touchdowns, and one interception.

Defensively, Georgia Tech has recorded just one interception and six sacks. Linebacker Kyle Efford leads the team with 42 tackles.

North Carolina, meanwhile, lost its third straight game after starting the year 3-0. In the loss to Pitt, UNC was led by running back Omarion Hampton who rushed for 106 yards and a touchdown while quarterback Jacolby Criswell threw for 269 yards and a touchdown.

UNC is dedicating the game to wide receiver Tylee Craft who has been battling lung cancer for the last two-and-a-half years.

“Let me start by saying this is the cancer awareness week for our game. We are dedicating the game to Tylee Craft,” said Brown, via On3. “We’re not sure that he’ll be able to come. We’re hoping he’ll feel better by then... Again, continue to pray for Tylee. I’m going to wear his shirt all week. We’ll wear t-shirts in his honor for The Bell Tower Walk on Saturday.”

The Tar Heels have struggled offensively this season but defensively, UNC has been led by Kaleb Cost who has two picks, Jahvaree Ritzie has five sacks, and Jakeen Harris leads the team with 39 tackles.

UNC's offense continues to falter and Georgia Tech should be able to go on the road and get a big win here. Haynes King should be able to have success against the Tar Heels defense.

Prediction: Georgia Tech 34, North Carolina 27
