The Washington Huskies (4-3) lost to the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday, 40-16, which came after the Huskies previously defeated 24-ranked Michigan 27-17. The Huskies will be looking to bounce back from the Iowa defeat, so let's look at their schedule.

Does Washington play today?

Fans will need to wait another week to see if the Huskies can return to the form that allowed them to beat Michigan because they have an open week. The Huskies do not play today or at all in Week 8 and were one of the only college football teams that have not had an open week yet this season.

The Huskies will be back in action next Saturday (Oct. 26) with a game away on the road against Indiana, ranked 16th. It is an important matchup for the Huskies as they try to get back in the mix to win the Big 10.

Can Washington make it to the college football playoff this season?

The Huskies can still make the college football playoffs, but it will be a tough road. In the new 12-team format, the five highest-ranked conference champions automatically make the playoffs. Then, the CFP selection committee will determine the next seven teams. The playoffs go to the following seven highest-ranked teams, regardless of conference placement.

The Huskies are 2-2 against the Big 10 teams, and three teams have 3-0 records: Indiana, Oregon, and Penn State. The Huskies have five games left, all against in-conference opponents. Additionally, three of those are against the aforementioned 3-0 teams.

If the Huskies can win all three games, they can win the conference. However, that will be a big challenge as Indiana is ranked 16th, Penn State is third, and Oregon is second. As a currently unranked team, it is unlikely Washington can make the playoffs without winning the conference, so the Huskies need to win all three of the above games.
