The No. 22 BYU Cougars will travel to Waco, Texas, in Week 5 to take on the Baylor Bears in a Big 12 matchup.

The Cougars are making noise in their second season in the Big 12, with a 4-0 record in their first four games. They are feeling good after dominating the No. 13 Kansas State Wildcats to pick up a 38-9 win in Week 4. BYU impressed enough to enter the Top 25 heading into Week 5 for the first time since October 8, 2022.

The Bears haven't gotten out of the gates like they hoped, stumbling to a 2-2 start in their first four games. Baylor is coming off a heartbreaker versus the Colorado Buffaloes in Week 4, allowing a hail mary conversion in the final seconds of regulation before turning the ball over in overtime to lose 38-31.

Here are official predictions for this Big 12 Week 5 matchup, along with some betting tips.

BYU vs. Baylor: Prediction

While Baylor looks far from their ceiling this season, it's hard to gauge their potential after Week 4's hiccup versus Colorado. Letting close games slip away isn't exactly a valuable trait for any team.

It's hard to bet against BYU after the beatdown they gave Kansas State last week. In a game with just a three-point spread, we'll put our money on an impressive Cougars squad to keep rolling in Week 5.

BYU vs. Baylor: Betting Tips

Tip 1: BYU Cougars -3 (Even)

Tip 2: Total Points Over 46.5 (-115)

Tip 3: Jake Retzliff Over 1.5 Passing TD (+165)

BYU vs. Baylor: Head-to-Head

The Baylor-BYU rivalry is seeing just its fifth matchup in Week 5. The two schools have split the series with two wins apiece. BYU won a double-overtime matchup versus Baylor last season to tie up the series.

With BYU in the Big 12, this rivalry is one we'll be seeing plenty of going forward. This is the rivalry's third straight game after playing a home-home series in 1983 and 1984.
