The Alabama Crimson Tide welcomed the South Carolina Gamecocks in Week 7 of the 2024 college football season. The game at Braynt-Denny stadium got underway at noon ET.

Jalen Milroe started as Alabama's quarterback, while LaNorris Sellers led the offense for South Carolina.

Alabama vs. South Carolina game summary

Alabama opened the scoring when Milroe rushed for a 1-yard touchdown with 11 minutes remaining on the clock in the first quarter. Graham Nicholson converted the extra point. The Tide went up 7-0 after the first.

The Tide extended their lead in the second quarter when Justice Haynes rushed for a 2-yard touchdown. Nicholson converted the extra point.

South Carolina got on the scoreboard just before halftime when Sellers connected with Mazeo Bennett Jr. on a 36-yard touchdown pass. Alex Herrera scored the extra point.

The Gamecocks then got right back into the game when Kyle Kennard sacked Milroe in the endzone, and the Tide quarterback was flagged for intentional grounding, resulting in a safety. South Carolina got the ball back and Herrera made a 37-yard field goal just before the halftime whistle, but it was the Tide who led 14-12 at the interval.

The Gamecocks took the lead in the third quarter when Raheim Sanders rushed for a 1-yard TD. Herrera converted the extra point lead and South Carolina was ahead 19-14 after the third quarter.

Alabama retook the lead in the fourth quarter when Milroe rushed for a 2-yard touchdown. The Tide went for a 2-point conversion which failed.

Nonetheless, the Tide extended their advantage when Milroe threw a 34-yard touchdown pass to Germie Bernard with just under two minutes remaining in the game. Nicholson converted the extra point to put Alabama up 27-19.

South Carolina nearly forced the game into overtime when Sellers threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Nyck Harbor. However, the 2-point conversion was unsuccessful and the Tide won the contest 27-25.
