One could argue Diego Pavia outperformed Heisman Trophy hopeful Jalen Milroe in Saturday's matchup. Pavia took care of the ball, only throwing four incompletions without a turnover in the game.

Pavia also outrushed Milroe, notching 56 rushing yards on 20 carries without taking a sack in the game. The senior quarterback's stature has grown in Vanderbilt football as the first quarterback to win a game versus an AP Top 5 team in program history (1-60).

Jalen Milroe's biggest threat was neutralized in this game. Milroe totaled just seven carries for 10 yards in the game and turned the ball over twice, including a 29-yard pick-six on Alabama's second drive of the game, putting Alabama down 13-0. The senior quarterback was impressive in the passing game, throwing just six incompletions on the day.

Vanderbilt Commodores Performance Analysis

To put it simply, Vanderbilt won this game in the trenches. The Commodores' offensive line kept their quarterback upright all day and didn't allow a sack versus the Crimson Tide.

The line also moved bodies out of the way in the run game, clearing space for 166 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Vanderbilt's defensive line was also impressive, holding Alabama to just 84 rushing yards on 21 carries.

They also registered two sacks in the huge win. Alabama was playing from behind from the jump, and their defense couldn't get a stop to give their offense a chance. Vanderbilt kept the Crimson Tide's defense on the field, dominating the time of possession 42 minutes to 17 minutes.

Alabama Crimson Tide Performance Analysis

As previously stated, Alabama's defense couldn't make the stops to get their offense back on the field. They also failed to force a turnover. With Vanderbilt converting on 12-18 third-down situations and picking up 26 first downs, they made it hard for Alabama to battle back. The Crimson Tide failed to gain control of the game, and it ultimately cost them in the loss.
