It was a pivotal moment in his career for Bronny James, the son of NBA legend LeBron James, when he got selected by the LA Lakers. The Lakers used their 55th pick to bring Bronny to LA on night 2 of the 2024 NBA draft on Friday.

However, the former USC star didn't attend the draft event; instead, he was with his family watching the draft on TV. His brother Bryce James captured Broony's emotional reaction when his name was announced in the draft.

Likewise, college hoop fans have had a range of emotions in response to the news of the Lakers drafting Bronny. Many were genuinely thrilled for Bronny, while others expressed skepticism and even criticism.

"Deserved this moment," one fan wrote.
"Thanks Daddy," one commented.

Some acknowledged the pressure Bronny has faced due to his father's legacy and are delighted that he fulfilled his dream, wishing him nothing but success in his NBA career.

"Say what you want I’m just happy he gets to live out his dream. I honestly hope nothing but the best for him," one fan commented.
"Congrats to Bronny, I can't imagine how it feels. People go way too hard on him, he's living the most unique life as a NBA star, we should be supporting as much as possible. He's going through shit alot cannot relate to, you gotta have a open mind with this one," another fan wrote.

However, not everyone was on board with Bronny James getting drafted, with some fans even questioning whether his draft position was deserved or influenced.

"That hat handed to him, just like his career. His agent shouldve steered him to other teams to avoid the life long nepotism talk he will surely get. Feel bad for this kid," one fan wrote.
"You can tell he knows he didn't earn it. Sad man," said another.

LeBron and Bronny James on verge of making NBA history

Bronny James getting drafted by the Lakers not only created a huge topic of discussion among basketball fans and analysts but also marked a significant historical moment in the league.

If LeBron and Bronny step onto the court together, it will mark the first instance in the league of a father-son pair playing together. LeBron, 39, is set to be on the court alongside his son Bronny, who is 20 years younger than him.

In the past, the four-time NBA champion has often expressed his desire to play alongside Bronny James. It's a dream come true for LeBron.
