The Auburn Tigers are coming off a tough 2023 college football season as they finished 6-7 (3-5 in SEC). Coach Hugh Freeze is looking to drastically shake up his roster and increase what they can do during the 2024 season.

With the Texas Longhorns and the Oklahoma Sooners joining the Southeastern Conference this upcoming season, improving the roster is going to be critical for not only success but also for relevancy.

Here's a list of the top three players they should be targeting in the spring transfer portal.

Top 3 targets for Hugh Freeze in the Spring transfer portal

#1 Collin Schlee, QB

The Auburn Tigers have been struggling a bit with the quarterback position and they could improve instantly with the addition of UCLA's Collin Schlee.

He was in the rotation of quarterbacks in Chip Kelly's offense last year, as he was 25-of-47 (53.2%) for 217 yards with two passing touchdowns and two interceptions.

He also recorded 42 carries for 425 yards (10.1 yards per attempt) with three rushing touchdowns. This could be a massive improvement for the program.

#2 Elijhah Badger, WR

Wide receiver Elijhah Badger could really help the Auburn Tigers be a significant threat on the offensive side of things.

NCAA Football: Arizona State at UCLA

Badger left the Arizona State Sun Devils and had back-to-back significant seasons, as he totaled 135 catches for 1,579 yards and 10 touchdowns over the course of the previous two seasons.

Having a legitimate threat on the outside, this could significantly improve the output in the Southeastern Conference as a legitimate threat.

#3 Jacoby Mathews, DB

Defensive back Jacoby Mathews has been doing well and has entered the NCAA Transfer Portal after playing with the Texas A&M Aggies over the previous two seasons.

He has combined for 67 total tackles, 0.5 sacks, one forced fumble, one interception and seven pass deflections thus far.

In the Southeastern Conference, with a significant number of programs with elite skill positions, this would drastically improve what Hugh Freeze could do as a whole for his program.
