Tony Vitello's Tennessee Volunteers are making some key moves in the offseason. On Tuesday, the Vols added former Ole Miss pitcher Liam Doyle to their roster to boost their national title defense next year. On Monday, Doyle met with the Vols and he committed to the program a day later.

Doyle's addition to the Tennessee roster will further boost its rotation for next season. The Vols won the national title for the first time in history under coach Vitello. They aim to strengthen while at the top to remain in the best position for their title defense.

Liam Doyle was born on June 3, 2004, to parents Kate and Steve Doyle. He attended Pinkerton Academy High School, where he took a liking to baseball.

Doyle was named New Hampshire State Player of the Year in 2021 and 2022 by Prep Baseball Report. At Pinkerton Academy, he was coached by Steve Campo and was the top-ranked left-handed pitcher in the class of 2022.

Doyle committed to Coastal Carolina in 2023. In his freshman year, he posted a 3-1 record. The left-hander recorded 69 strikeouts and 20 walks across 56.1 innings at a 4.15 ERA.

Before the 2024 season, Doyle transferred to Ole Miss. In his sole season with the Rebels, he finished the season with 84 strikeouts and 21 walks across 55 innings at a 5.73 ERA.

Tony Vitello led the Vols to their maiden national title last month. Despite the celebrations in Rocky Top over the past few weeks, it appears that Vitello isn't turning a blind eye toward bolstering his squad for next season.

The Vols have already lured former Kennesaw State pitcher Tanner Franklin, former Louisville middle infielder Gavin Kilen and first baseman Eric Rataczak from Niagara in the offseason.

Just a few hours before Doyle's commitment to Tennessee, his Ole Miss roommate and third baseman Andrew Fischer announced his transfer to the Vols.
