Oklahoma baseball coach Skip Johnson is reportedly set to sign a contract extension with the Sooners amid rumors that linked him to the vacant Texas A&M Aggies job. Johnson was in the mix to replace former Aggies coach Jim Schlosnaggle, who joined the Texas Longhorns earlier this week.

Soon after reports claimed that Johnson was out of the running to become the next Aggies coach, fans on X began taking digs at Texas A&M.

Some Texas Longhorns fans didn't take long to mock their in-state rivals.

"So they failed again," one tweeted.
"Damn they took another L," another user tweeted.
"Swing and another miss. Lmaoooo," tweeted a third.

A few users also took sly digs at the Aggies with some clever wordplay.

"So basically Skip skipped past them," one tweeted.
"Nobody wants to be part of a cult," tweeted another.

Some curious fans were also eager to know about the next candidate in line to take up the Aggies coaching job and had a few jokes about the situation.

"Are they gonna hire 3 guys or is the head coaching job between 3 candidates?" tweeted one.
"Zeroing in on 3 guys… after the first 4 (maybe 5) guys said 'no'," another fan tweeted.

As per D1baseball, Johnson is expected to sign his new contract extension with the Oklahoma Sooners on Saturday. He is getting a new offer after leading the program to its first Big 12 regular season title and another NCAA regional.

Hence, it appears that the Aggies will need to look elsewhere to fill their head coaching void.
