Bryce Harper made a gesture that showed who he's backing in this year's College World Series. With the Tennessee Volunteers set to take on the Texas A&M Aggies in the best-of-three series final, the Philadelphia Phillies star ensured he will back the NCAA Tournament's top seed through his gesture.

Prior to the Phillies' game against the Arizona Diamondbacks at Citizens Bank Park on Friday, Harper adorned a white pinstriped jersey of the Vols with the orange Power T.

The Volunteers, Harper's pick for this year's College World Series, will begin their best-of-three series against the Aggies for the coveted title on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. ET.

Bryce Harper moved to Knoxville last winter

Although he was born in Nevada and played college baseball for the University of South Nevada as a catcher with promising hitting talent, Harper's attachment to Tennessee stems from a recent change in his life.

Last winter, the two-time National League MVP and his family moved to Knoxville. He followed a trend of MLB players moving to East Tennessee, with Nashville being a preferred choice by players like Los Angeles Dodgers star Mookie Betts.

Since moving to Knoxville, Harper struck a chord with Vols' head coach Tony Vitello, with the latter speaking volumes of their growing relationship.

“We’ve got some mutual friends in baseball. It’s kind of mind-blowing," Vitello said to WBIR. "I mean, the people I’ve been able to meet, it really tracks back to Vol fans. Kind of lifted up our program and fortunately, I ride that wave, as well. It’s been because of Vol fans and Peyton Manning a lot, too.”

Since the Washington Nationals made him the first overall pick in the 2010 MLB draft, Harper has gone from strength to strength. He made his MLB debut with the Nationals in 2012, representing them for seven seasons before signing a monstrous 13-year, $330 million contract with the Phillies in 2019.

His major accomplishments include being a 7-time MLB All-Star, the 2022 NLCS MVP and a two-time Hank Aaron Award winner. He also won the NL MVP honor in 2015 and 2021. Harper has scored 323 home runs and 973 RBI at an average of .281 in his MLB career so far.
