3 late-round 2024 MLB Draft stars from Texas A&M Aggies

The Texas A&M Aggies 2024 season was one of the best in program history, with the school reaching the College World Series finals for the first time. Not only that, but only by a whisker of one run in Game 3, they lost the College World Series to Tennessee. However, their head coach, Jim Schlossnagle, left to join the Texas Longhorns after the CWS.

The success of Texas A&M this season didn't go unnoticed in the big leagues. Seven Aggies made the jump to the MLB.

#3 Ryan Prager, Los Angeles Angels

Prager was the 81st draft pick by the Los Angeles Angels in the third round of the draft.

He was a key member of the Aggies 2024 pitching staff. The starter had a 9-1 record this season, with an ERA of 2.95. His major accolade this season was being the Perfect Game National Pitcher of Week 3, although he was on the Golden Spikes Award watchlist.

In the CWS, he provided a quality start against Kentucky, allowing no runs in six innings. He also opened the only win of Texas A&M against Tennessee in the finals, although the victory wasn't his.

#2 Tanner Jones, Kansas City Royals

Tanner Jones was the 167th pick of the draft in the sixth round by the Kansas City Royals.

Jones made a transfer to the Aggies last season. He was ranked as the No. 86 top transfer by D1Baseball in 2024. At Jacksonville State, he was a starter, although at Texas A&M, he was used more as a reliever.

Through three seasons of college ball, his record was 12-8 with an ERA of 5.31.

#1 Ali Camarillo, Oakland Athletics

Ali Camarillo, who successfully navigated his way into the shortstop starting spot with the Aggies, was picked 346th overall by the Oakland A's in the 12th round. Camarillo, who played two seasons at CSU Northbridge, was the last Texas A&M player selected in the draft.

With the Aggies, he batted for .288, with 36 RBIs and seven homers.
