On August 7, Julian Smith shared an exercise routine for the quad and adductor muscles, saying he was back to his roots.

"Back to my roots 🤘🏻 who remembers Workout Wednesdays? Little taste of what you can expect on The Pump!! Send this to a homie who needs a good ass kicking, it’s LEG DAY," Smith wrote on Instagram.

With this post, he made his fans nostalgic. One of his followers remarked that these routine screenshots were all over their mobile phone back in the day.

"Dude I miss these so much!!! I was just going through an old phone looking at my screenshots from 'thequadguy.com' days," the fan commented on Smith's post.

Another reminisced:

"Used to LOVE workout Wednesday! These were the best workouts and so motivational."

So, who is Julian Smith, a.k.a. 'The Quad Guy?,' who is sending netizens into a nostalgic frenzy? Let's find out.

A veteran bodybuilding influencer, Julian Smith was born on May 19, 1987, in Hillsboro, Oregon, the United States America. Getting mesmerized just by looking at Tom Platz and Arnold Schwarzenegger, Smith got inspired and hit the gym at the age of 17. The teenager's first gym was the 'Powerhouse Gym,' located in Forest Grove, Oregon.

After a few dedicated years of disciplined training, Smith attained the physique that he used to dream of as a teenager. Following his idol Platz, who was popularly known as 'The Quadfather' for his legs that measured over 30 inches at one point, Smith managed to develop his quad muscles that stood out. He eventually came to be known as 'The Quad Guy.' The quad muscles are a group of muscles at the front of the thigh.

The 6-foot athlete started participating in bodybuilding shows and even won a couple of major competitions such as the 2013 NPC Washington Ironman Open and the 2015 NPC Natural Ohio.

Julian Smith's passion and impressive built not only led to more and more people talking about him, but also reaching out for tips. As his popularity grew, the Ohio native decided to use social media to connect and guide others in their journeys. He has been posting workout photos and videos for nearly a decade, and launched his website 'thequadguy.com' in 2016.

The idea behind the website was to give out useful information about diet, nutrition, and different workout combinations, all on one platform. Smith has been able to help people and gain their trust in such a way that today, he successfully runs a membership program called 'The Daily Pump.' The 37-year-old has also earned over a million followers on Instagram.

As far as his personal life is concerned, Julian Smith is married to Casey. The couple have a son named Tommy.

"Completing a hard Leg Day is the best feeling": Julian Smith

The quad guy enjoys the feeling of completing a difficult leg workout; which is dreaded by the majority of bodybuilders. In an Instagram post in April this year, Smith described how he felt after finishing it, as he wrote:

"To me there’s no better feeling than the satisfaction of completing a hard leg day. Knowing you had a tough task ahead of you and you met it head-on."

Acknowledging the comparative difficulty of the activity, he highlighted the importance of the attitude with which it needs to be done. He added:

"You didn’t just go through the motions, you pushed yourself to the point of being uncomfortable."

Bodybuilding isn't one of those activities that allow staying even distantly close to one's comfort zone. Accepting that there is a challenge is one way to complete the challenge. Smith seems to have mastered this. He concluded by writing:

"That’s what keeps me in this sport.. you gotta enjoy the challenge."
