Elite powerlifting sensation Larry Wheels has baffled the world with his insane lifts time and again. Training from a very young age, Wheels realized early in his career that he was gifted with incredible strength. Working further on himself, Larry has created many records over the years, inspiring countless youngsters to take up powerlifting.

Weighing around 300 lbs, Larry Wheels was able to bench press a mind-boggling 661 lbs just a few days back. Breaking his previous record of benching 644 lbs at 2020 Xtreme Powerlifting Coalition (XPC) Arnold. What made the lift even more impressive was that Larry went for a paused rep and not a speed rep.

Larry Wheels’ other powerlifting records

Back in May 2022, Larry Wheels decided to showcase his greatness and went for a deadlift PR. Wearing his lifting belt and straps, Wheels went on to deadlift a whopping 930 lbs for three reps. He used a hitch to lockout in all three reps which is not allowed in powerlifting meets but is allowed in Strongman contests.

When it comes to squats, Larry Wheels broke his personal record back in August 2023 when he squatted a staggering 900 lbs. Breaking his previous record of 850 lbs, the 50-pound progress came just days before his bodybuilding debut, making the lift all the more impressive.

Posting a clip of the same on his Instagram, Larry Wheels wrote:

“900lb SQUAT PR IN SLEEVES TREMENDOUS PR FOR ME (50lb PR). And 865 right before it for a 20lb PR! 2 PRs in one day!(Swipe right) 2 weeks out from my first national bodybuilding show!”

Having created multiple records and lifting astounding weights is almost impossible without the involvement of anabolic steroids. Even though Larry Wheels has been open about using performance-enhancing drugs in the past, he soon realized the toll they were taking on his body. He announced back in 2022 that he would not be taking steroids now. However, in an unfortunate turn of events, he decided to start competing in bodybuilding shows “in an attempt to bring more eyeballs.”

However, soon enough he noticed his health was starting to decline because of using drugs. That's when Larry Wheels decided to quit bodybuilding.

Making a YouTube video about the same, he stated:

“Me hopping back on steroids is going against everything I said I would do…I don’t even like myself when I’m deep in prep as a bodybuilder.” (03:30)

Currently, Larry Wheels is on doctor-prescribed testosterone replacement therapy. While his dreams of deadlifting 1000 lbs got shattered, Wheels’ only focus at the moment was to maintain his health.
