“Thank you President Biden”: Arnold Schwarzenegger’s ex-wife Maria Shriver comments on Joe Biden’s decision not to seek re-election

Arnold Schwarzenegger's ex-wife Maria Shriver is extremely vocal about American politics, given her background in journalism and being the former First Lady of California. Shriver recently reacted to President Joe Biden's momentous decision to not seek re-election at the upcoming presidential election.

Biden took to social media on Sunday, July 21, to confirm that he would stand down after his current term came to an end. He nominated Vice President Kamala Harris to replace him as the democratic nominee. 81-year-old Biden further stated that picking Harris as his vice president back in 2020 was the best decision he made.

Maria Shriver reposted Joe Biden's post on her Instagram story and thanked him. Following this, she also uploaded an Instagram post where she shared her detailed thoughts about the decision.

"Today is a historic and unprecedented day. This is also a deeply personal day for the President, the entire Biden family, and everyone who has worked on this campaign. It is important to note that so many people have uprooted their lives to work on this campaign, this election. This is a difficult day for the administration and the American people as Joe Biden announces his decision not to seek reelection," Shriver wrote.

Joe Biden's support to Maria Shriver's cause

In the same Instagram post, Maria Shriver opined that this was a carefully thought-out decision and not an impulsive one. She also lauded President Joe Biden for his support related to her initiative on women's health.

"Let’s be reassured that this was not a decision that was made lightly, but one that was made with care, consideration, and prayer. It has truly been an honor working with President Biden and Dr. Biden on the White House Initiative on Women’s Health Research. We set out to transform women’s health, and they have done so. I’ll always be grateful to them, as women across the nation should be," Shriver wrote.

Shriver assured everyone that despite Biden stepping down as president, the work towards women's health would still continue. Thanking Biden for his service, she concluded:

"This work will continue, and we will keep going, getting the answers for women everywhere. Joe Biden is one man, but the vision and the work is bigger than one man. Thank you, President Biden for your years of service to the American people."
