“See you in heaven”: Bodybuilding world reacts as 48-YO Russian IFBB Pro Eugene Mishin passes away

This year has been one of heartbreak for the bodybuilding industry, with many great athletes passing away. Eugene Mishin, also known as Evgeny Mishin, is the lastest to join the list following his untimely death on August 17 at the age of 48. Dave Palumbo's Rx Muscle broke the sad news on their Instagram page.

According to Palumbo, Mishin stopped breathing all of a sudden, and the paramedics tried to revive him for 45 minutes without success. The cause of death is still unknown.

"I’m very sad to report that my dear friend IFBB PRO @ifbbpro_eugenemishin has died at the age of 48 years old. He was one of the most loyal men I ever met and it was my honor to be able to call him my friend. He will be missed by his family, loved ones and close friends … prayers and love," Palumbo wrote on Instagram.

Several bodybuilding legends and fans reacted in the comments section.

Lee Priest, aka the Blond Myth, wrote:

"He was a great guy very genuine ❤️🙏 condolences to his family and friends."

Dennis Wolf, a former Arnold Classic champion, commented:

"My condolences to his family and friends. So sad. RIP."

A fan expressed his condolences, writing:

"I remember Eugene for his toughness and determination. Sleeping outside in a park for a while but continuing to train and get on his feet. See you in heaven Eugene!"
"Great guy. Did many shows when I was there. Nicest guy," stated an admirer of Eugene Mishin.
"Rest In Peace Eugene. One of the nicest athletes in the Bodybuilding World. My deepest condolences to his Family and loved ones. He will always be remembered," wrote a fan of the IFFB Pro athlete.

Another fan recalled meeting Mishin two weeks ago, saying:

"Just saw him at Bevs two weeks ago. Told him we had to get him on After Hours. Nicest guy. Greatest story teller. No words."

Eugene Mishin did not win any pro shows but was a determined athlete and improved his ranking over the years. He retired after the 2011 Mr. Olympia, became an actor, and appeared in several commercials. In recent years, he had aslo become a coach for aspiring bodybuilders.
