"Our country is tearing apart": Arnold Schwarzenegger expresses concern after Donald Trump assassination attempt

Arnold Schwarzenegger has given his stance on the unfortunate assassination attempt on the former President of the United States, Donald Trump. Despite not being one of the biggest supporters of Trump himself, Schwarzenegger recently expressed his concerns via his daily newsletter Pump Club, as well as through one of his latest tweets.

"Like all of you, I was horrified by the attempted assassination of former President Trump this weekend. I am incredibly happy that he is safe, & my thoughts are with the other victims of this cowardly attack on our democracy & our country. I know that right now it feels like our country is tearing apart," Arnold wrote.

Arnold Schwarzenegger himself has never wasted any opportunity thrown his way to mock Donald Trump. A while back, during his episode on Jimmy Kimmel Live, he was asked if he really believed Trump to be 215 lbs, as he claimed. To this Schwarzenegger hilariously replied:

"If it makes him feel good to tell everyone he weighs 215, I think everyone laughs about it...he does not look like he weighs 215...little bit more like 315."

However, during these unfortunate times, Schwarzenegger couldn't help but think about the fact that "Four of our 46 presidents have been assassinated." He further reminisced about the time when he stepped foot on American soil for the first time, writing:

"I arrived in America in 1968. That year, Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated in April. When he received news of King’s death on the campaign trail, Robert F. Kennedy said: 'What we need in the United States is not division; what we need in the United States is not hatred; what we need in the United States is not violence and lawlessness, but is love, and wisdom, and compassion toward one another, and a feeling of justice toward those who still suffer within our country, whether they be white or whether they be black.'"

Providing a ray of hope during these 'dark times,' Schwarzenegger pointed out how America has survived many brutal blows, and still strived through all the traumas. He beautifully pointed out:

"Even in our darkest times, we find a way to see the light, no matter how distant it may be."

Arnold Schwarzenegger, who had been into politics earlier himself, stated that during these tough times, Americans needed to stay strong and positive. He believes that the citizens are choosing pessimism and hate instead of open discussions about important political matters.

Social media is also hugely responsible for spreading this hate according to the former Governor of California. Concluding his statement, Schwarzenegger quoted former President Abraham Lincoln and wrote:

"We are not enemies, but friends. We must not be enemies. Though passion may have strained, it must not break our bonds of affection. The mystic chords of memory, stretching from every battlefield and patriot grave to every living heart and hearthstone all over this broad land, will yet swell the chorus of the Union, when again touched, as surely they will be, by the better angels of our nature."

Arnold Schwarzenegger's elaborate words on the sad matter do help by providing a positive perspective. By setting aside his personal biases and opinions and addressing the issue, Schwarzenegger has once again proved why he is admired by millions of individuals hailing from different industries.
