“My love for you will last forever”: Brazilian Bodybuilder Antonio Souza dies on stage, family posts heartfelt message

Antonio Souza died right after being a part of a bodybuilding championship in Brazil on Saturday, August 3. He was on the stage of the 2024 Open Bodybuilding happening in Nevagantes, Brazil, where he reportedly had a cardiac arrest. He was attended to by the doctors present at the event, but he couldn't be resuscitated.

Confirming the situation, a video of Antonio Souza on stage at this event was shared by Yone Farias, his spouse, with a mourning message that says:

"Rest in peace my eternal love, life may be over but my love will be forever, your departure left a void, but your memory will remain 😭😭😭😭😭😭 Mourning" - (translated from Portuguese)

Antonio's close friends and family including his sister Antonia, put up a mourning photo as their profile picture on social media as a tribute to him.

Antonio Souza was on the way to Pro Bodybuilding in 2024

Antonio was going to turn 27 this year, and apparently, was going to participate in more bodybuilding events in 2024. He had paved his path for professional bodybuilding, starting in South America. Not only did he participate in various debutant-level championships in the Amazon region, but also secured top places in them. Here is a list of his achievements:

  • Second place in Arnold Classic South America in 2022
  • First place in Overall Bodybuilding upto 80 kg, Manuas 2021
  • First place in Amazonas Classic, Debutant in 2020

It is said that Antonio's funeral would be done on August 6, 2024, after bringing in his body from Santa Catrina, where this championship was happening.
