Eight-time Mr. Olympia Ronnie Coleman had a journey from being the top bodybuilder in the world to facing the harsh reality of chronic back pain. Due to excessive heavy weight lifting, 'The King' has had to undergo numerous surgeries on his spine.

In a recent video on his YouTube channel, Coleman spoke about the immense benefits of stem cell therapy, which he has been doing for the past four years. The 60-year-old claimed it helped a great deal in dealing with a herniated disc which would have otherwise required surgery.

“My first treatment about four years ago now, I got a little relief from it,” he said. [3:14]
"After my next treatment which would have been about five months later, let’s just say, after that treatment, I forgot I had a herniated disc," he continued. [3:40]
“My stem cell treatments are working really, really, really good," he concluded. [4:22]

What is stem cell therapy and why does Ronnie Coleman need it?

Stem cell therapy is a medical treatment that utilizes one's own body cells for repairing and regenerating damaged tissue. In Ronnie Coleman's case, the cells were injected into his intervertebral or spine discs to repair themselves.

The results of stem cell treatments vary from patient to patient. Some may feel relief after a couple of days while others have to wait longer to see positive results. Stem cell therapy typically ranges from between $5,000 to $50,000 depending on the cause. For specific treatments, a single stem cell injection costs around $4,000 as the base price.

According to Coleman, stem cell therapy has caused him relief from pain and prevented him from having surgery.
