Jason Kelce, a Philadelphia Eagles center and hall-of-fame athlete, took his retirement from the sport in March 2024. Kelce loves spending his time post-retirement on the golf course. Now, his primarily focus is on losing some weight and slimming down. And for that, he follows a simple dieting approach.

The former NFL star had a conversation with Access Hollywood at the 35th Annual American Century Championship, which started on July 11. He shared that he's aiming to lose 45 pounds and slim down to around 250 pounds. Kelce stated:

"So I've been eating a lot of ice cream. So I've started to go the opposite route again."

The 36-year-old weighed around 295 pounds in his last season before retirement. Since then, Kelce has been cutting down on his weight and trying to get back in shape.

"My whole thing is just calories in, calories out. I don't overcomplicate it. I don't try to get too extreme with diets in general," he explained.

The former NFL star tries to eat as natural as possible, whether it be plant- or animal-based products, and stays away from processed food. He tends not to overeat and believes that "the weight kind of comes off naturally."

Sentimental reason Jason Kelce wants to lose weight post-retirement

In an interview with Hello! Magazine, Jason Kelce explained why he wants to lose weight. He feels that shedding the pounds will make him more adept at playing with his three daughters.

“Another 20 pounds hopefully will make [me] that much more adept at playing with my children,” he said.

Losing weight has also made the athlete feel better about his back and knees, giving him more agility. The former NFL star's right knee has been reconstructed twice in his 13-year career. He has also had numerous surgeries on his hands, toes, and groin.

"For me, I feel like, for some reason, 250 to 260 feels like I’ll still be big and be happy with the way I look without having a six-pack. But I’ll still be able to have that stature a little bit," the 36-year-old told GQ in a recent interview.
