Larry Wheels, a prominent powerlifting figure, has not always been open about his steroid usage. But in 2022, the powerlifter opened up about the same.

He also shed light on one of the most frequently asked questions in his comments about his natural testosterone production. Wheels cleared up all the rumors and said in a YouTube video that he can't produce testosterone naturally.

"I cannot produce testosterone naturally, so I'm going to be on testosterone replacement therapy." I've tried pull cycle therapy several times when I first began cycling, and I was unable to recover," he said. [01:37]

The 29-year-old also explained his cycle details and mentioned he took anywhere from 70 to 175 milligrams a week. The powerlifter stopped using PEDs after a back tear while deadlifting 1000 pounds.

"I'm not calling it quits on it; I am putting the brakes on attempting prs like that at the moment, so you guys do know I have come off a back injury; luckily, it was a small grade one tear. I'm already okay, but does that mean the right answer is to jump into another extreme prep for a thousand-pound deadlift? Probably not, so I actually want to take Greg Doucette's advice and slow things down," he stated. [03:01]
Larry Wheels added, "Stop being in such a rush. Why do I do it right now? I'm 27. I can take my time. It can be several years from now. I'll still be in my prime. I'll still be healthy as long as my heart's beating. i can have a crack at it," he continued. [03:27]

Years of heavy lifting made Larry Wheels suffer

Larry Wheels has been lifting heavy weights for almost a decade, and it has not been easy on him. He suffered several severe injuries throughout his career.

Wheels suffered bicep injuries twice, both at the same time. In 2023, the powerlifter was ruled out of the Giants Live Wembley. He got injured during the Atlas Stone training.

The 29-year-old started his training for the Giant Live in January 2023. He shared an Instagram post showcasing his torn bicep and wrote:

"Torn bicep! Wait for it! Tendon seems to still be attached! No I will not be competing this weekend! Been years since :I have gotten hurt bout time it happened! Only started strongman January this year. Injury is just part of the learning curve! Wish me well fellas!"

Larry Wheels is holding back from competing in championships and chasing insane PRs. Do you support his decision? Let us know in the comments.
