Former Arnold Classic champ Rich Gaspari has been lifting since the tender age of 14. With decades of experience under his belt, Gaspari surely knows how to build and maintain a good physique. He recently uploaded a new picture on social media, flaunting his shredded look.

After a leg workout at Atilis Gym Brick Township in New Jersey, Gaspari went to the posing room to get some good clicks. Posting the same on his Instagram, Gaspari wrote:

“Ab check after my leg workout. Still have my intercostals and can see my abs. Am I ripped no but far from having a gut like the haters like to say I have! Keep yourself in check to stay in shape all year around.”

Gaspari won his pro card back in 1984 at the age of 21. Making his pro debut next year in 1985 at the IFBB Night of Champions, Gaspari finished second. At his Mr. Olympia debut in the same year, he secured the third position and finished runner-up in the next three consecutive Mr. Olympia competitions. (1986, 1987, 1988)

Being the first bodybuilder ever to display striated glutes on a bodybuilding stage, Gaspari emphasised more on conditioning than just sheer size.

Rich Gaspari’s had once shared his views on modern bodybuilding

While there is no denying that the sport of bodybuilding requires using performance-enhancing drugs at the elite level, Rich Gaspari believes that modern bodybuilders are getting more influenced by these drugs.

In a YouTube video that he had uploaded on his channel 'Dragon Slayer Media' a year ago, Rich Gaspari gave his honest take on modern bodybuilders. Talking about New York Pro champion Nick Walker, Gaspari stated:

“I’ve seen videos of Nick Walker training, he’s a freaking maniac with really heavy weights that that guy is using, it’s tremendous.” (09:24)

Further, Rich Gaspari shared his views on why Hadi Choopan came second at Mr. Olympia in 2023. While Gaspari thinks Hadi has an insane back, he believes working further on his conditioning can help him a lot.

Gaspari also stated how bodybuilders from his era relied more on hard work and training rather than just being on abusive dosages of steroids.

“I think there is something to say how guys are training and depending on drugs more than the quality of training. That needs to come back. It seems like training is lost.”

Even decades after his retirement from the sport, Rich Gaspari continues to train hard and maintains an astounding physique.
