Antony Starr, the actor best known for his villainous character 'Homelander' in the hit Amazon series 'The Boys', made a surprising revelation about his experience with on-set catering in the American filming industry in a recent YouTube interview with Men's Health.

When Starr was asked about eating craft services:

"The volume of food available on-set in America is incredible. I walked in, I was like wow this is like a junk food buffet. I avoid craft services table," Starr stated [5:14 onwards].

Antony Starr said that craft services in his home country of New Zealand are extremely 'basic,' which is why he expressed disappointment with the food options provided for the cast and crew in America.

His comment sparked discussions among fans and insiders in the industry about the prevalence of unhealthy food choices on set. Many productions rely on catering companies that primarily offer processes and sugary options like pizzas, burgers, donuts, and sugary drinks.

Later on in the interview, Antony Starr also shared his cheat meals and food preferences aside from having a well-balanced diet. His two cheat meals are milkshakes and burgers, the latter being his comfort food, and pasta while maintaining his regular diet.

Antony Starr advocates for healthier alternatives

Starr went on to suggest in the aforementioned interview that healthier food options would be a welcome change, especially since it is hard to stay fit when you're in your 40s:

"I got for proteins, [healthy] fats, and anything green veggies... I actually start considering a lot more what I'm eating." [0:43]

The benefits of healthier craft services extend beyond the individual's well-being. A lot of health studies have shown a clear link between diet and cognitive function.

Providing nutritious meals on the set, as actor Antony Starr suggested, can potentially lead to improved focus, better decision-making, critical skills, and increased productivity for everyone involved. Additionally, by offering healthy options it can boost morale and create a more positive working environment.

Starr's critique of American on-set catering has opened a conversation about the importance of healthy food options in the film industry. A shift towards a more balanced and nutritious craft service will lead to productivity and healthy living.
