Following Donald Trump's apparent assassination attempt at a campaign rally on July 13, Boston Celtics center Al Horford's sister Anna cast doubt on the veracity of the attempt. Anna took to X to highlight the former POTUS standing with portions of his face and body exposed soon after the assassination attempt to suggest that Trump's team may have staged the whole thing.
"I doubt the secret service would allow him to do this in plain sight for as long as he did if there was a real shooter in the crowd… I wouldn’t put it past the Tr*mp team to have staged this. His base is already using these images to glorify him," Anna tweeted.
Multiple gunshots were heard as Donald Trump was delivering a campaign rally speech in Butler, Pennsylvania, with one of the bullets missing Trump's head by a whisker as it hit the upper part of his right ear. The incident reportedly led to the gunman and a bystander being killed and two spectators getting critically injured.
Lou Williams and Jonathan Isaac among NBA personalities sharing thoughts on Donald Trump assassination attempt
Following the shocking incident ahead of the 2024 U.S. presidential election, various NBA stars, including Lou Williams and Jonathan Isaac, took to social media to share their thoughts on Donald Trump's assassination attempt.
Williams called out all the politicians' statements on the matter, including Trump's, for not acknowledging the bystander citizen who was reportedly killed. However, Trump's statement did relay condolences for the person who was killed.
Williams later acknowledged his fault in the comments of his tweet but stood by his statement for the other politicians.
"All of these politicians, even trump have put out statements and none of them have acknowledged the American citizen that was reportedly killed. That don’t sit right with me. Either this sh*t cap or they don’t care. Both alarming to lil ol me," Williams tweeted.
Meanwhile, Isaac expressed relief for the close call and called for prayers regarding the matter.
"Prayers up!! Glad Trump survived for his family and americas sake. From one believer to another may we stand for truth, love our enemies, guard our hearts, and firmly plant our faith in none other than Jesus Christ for grace and eternal life," Isaac tweeted.
The gunman was later reportedly identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. Crooks was reported to have fired multiple shots from an elevated position on a manufacturing plant roof which was around 130 yards away from the stage where Trump was addressing his supporters.
