Former Lakers center Dwight Howard has transitioned well to life playing outside the NBA. After 18 seasons in the league, Howard has had stints in several overseas leagues including his current team in Taiwan, the Mustangs. Playing alongside former Warriors players Quinn Cook and Demarcus Cousins, Howard argued that their recent 81-point performance should place them in consideration for Team USA.

Only the best of the best can make the final cut in a USA Basketball roster and proof of this is there have been times when even other stars are not included, regardless of how phenomenal their talents or skill sets are. The depth of this year's Olympic squad is filled with elite shotmakers and two-way athletes to counter any schemes thrown at them by their opponents.

However, the former Lakers big man feels confident after combining for an incredible scoring output with Cousins and Cook that a call from USA Basketball should be in order. He shared some pictures of the game alongside the scoreboard on X, formerly known as Twitter.

"Man we should be on Team USA," Howard posted.

Howard and Cousins were also part of Team USA during the early stages of their basketball careers. The Magic legend was an integral piece of the 2008 "Redeem Team" that brought home the gold medal, while the former Kings center also did the same back in the 2016 Olympics.

The last time Dwight Howard played in the NBA was during the 2021-22 season with the LA Lakers. In the 60 games he played that season, he averaged 6.2 points, on 61.2% shooting, and 5.9 rebounds per game.

Former Lakers center invited Jayson Tatum to join him with the Taiwan Mustangs

Team USA put on a quality performance against Serbia in their first game at the Paris Olympics. Their 110-84 victory was led by Kevin Durant's efficient 23-point outing and LeBron James' near triple-double of 21 points, 9 assists, and 7 rebounds.

However, it wasn't the win that garnered attention from the media but coach Steve Kerr's decision to bench 2024 NBA Champion Jayson Tatum for the entire game.

Dwight Howard took his chance and hilariously extended an invitation to "Big Deuce" to come over to Taiwan.

"Jayson we could use another champ in my league!," Howard posted. You could hoop like this ... if you came."

While Tatum remains a defending champion after leading the Celtics past Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks, it still didn't stop Howard from shooting his shot at recruiting the five-time NBA All-Star.
