LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis were on the 2012 USA Olympic basketball team that won the gold in London. James and Davis did not appear in the next two editions while Durant led the Americans to two more golds in 2016 and 2020. The trio are back for what will likely be their final run as “King James” isn’t likely aiming for another Olympic stint.

On day two of the Americans’ training camp, James, Durant and Davis were spotted having a conversation. One of the staff covering the team for the duration of the preparation and the Olympics put a microphone over their heads. The LA Lakers superstar, who already noticed what was going on, did this to the said equipment:

The conversation was not likely private as all three would have covered their mouths when they spoke. It didn’t matter to them that a mic was over their heads. What they said was likely suitable for public consumption.

As the players with the most experience in Olympic competition, LeBron James, Kevin Durant and Anthony Davis will play big roles for Team USA. James reportedly recruited many on the team following the Americans’ fourth-placed finish in the 2023 FIBA World Cup. Most will be looking up to the trio for leadership.

LeBron James has high praise for Kevin Durant ahead of the 2024 Olympics

Kevin Durant is the all-time career points leader in USA Basketball. He has won the gold every time he has donned the national team color. Behind Durant, the Americans bagged the top spot in the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Olympics. “KD” also helped the team to the gold in the 2010 World Championship. Not even LeBron James has a glittering career in international basketball competition.

Ahead of training camp in Las Vegas, “King James” had this to say about playing with Durant again:

“To us staying relatively healthy, obviously we’ve had some bumps & bruises throughout our careers but our game still translates from 12 years ago to now & it’s always great to team with one of the greatest of all time.”

Team USA is loaded with talent as it also has Steph Curry, Joel Embiid, Jayson Tatum, Anthony Edwards and others. James and Durant, though, will be the leaders who will get everyone on the same page.

LeBron James knows this is likely his last ride in the Olympics so he is appreciative he gets to share it with Kevin Durant.
