LA Lakers rookie guard Bronny James and his father, Lakers superstar forward LeBron James, participated in their first training camp practice together. During the session, Bronny showcased his outside shooting ability.

Despite being the No. 55 pick in this year's draft, Bronny was the center of attention at the Lakers' Media Day on Monday. Anticipation continues growing for Bronny and LeBron to make history as the first father-son duo to play together in an NBA game.

They inched closer to the milestone on Tuesday, with LA rookie coach JJ Redick conducting his first training camp practice of the 2024-25 season. Footage later emerged on X/Twitter of Bronny and LeBron off to the side with Lakers third-year wing Max Christie working on their shots.

Bronny, in particular, appeared to be a standout in the shooting drills, as a clip went viral of him knocking down six consecutive 3-pointers.

Bronny's 3-point shot was an area of concern coming out of college, with his perimeter defense and athleticism considered his strong suits. Over 25 games at USC last season, he shot only 26.7% from deep. He followed that up by shooting just 13.0% from long distance across six NBA Summer League outings in July.

However, if Bronny can keep improving his shot and become a consistent 3-and-D role player, that should boost his chances of cracking LA's regular-season rotation.

LeBron James on "excitement" to work alongside his son, Bronny James

During Media Day, LeBron James highlighted his "excitement" to get the chance to work with his son, Bronny James.

LeBron is gearing up for his record-tying 22nd season and will turn 40 in December, making him the NBA's oldest player. However, he noted that he has extra motivation this year with Bronny by his side.

"There’s a lot of excitement," LeBron said. "It’s pure joy, to be honest, to be able to come to work every day, put in the hard work with your son every day and be able to see him continue to grow. We push each other. He pushes me, I push him. We push our teammates. Just a very joyous moment."

The Lakers begin their six-game preseason schedule on Oct. 4 against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, California. A few weeks later, they will host Minnesota for their Oct. 22 regular-season opener.

It remains to be seen when and how long Bronny and LeBron will take the court together. On Tuesday, JJ Redick said he would utilize a nine-man regular-season rotation, failing to mention Bronny while discussing players vying for bench roles. Thus, the second-rounder seemingly has his work cut out for him entering his rookie campaign.

Coming off a first-round playoff exit, LeBron and Co. will look to build upon last season's seventh-place Western Conference finish (47-35).
