The LA Lakers have rewarded guard Quincy Olivari with a two-way contract after his impressive performance in the preseason. Teammate D'Angelo Russell teased Olivari for "cheesing" after his deal, as the Lakers inch closer to the start of the regular season.

In a post on his Instagram stories, Russell shared a video of him meeting Olivari after his contract signing with the Lakers. He teased his teammate for "cheesing" or smiling too much. The rookie, wearing a Kobe Bryant t-shirt, couldn't contain his happiness after earning his spot with the team.

"N***a iain't stopped cheesing. That boy ain't stopped cheesing yet, man. What they say? God is good? 41! That boy locked in. My boy," Russell said.

According to Shams Charania of ESPN, the LA Lakers signed Quincy OIivari to a two-way contract on Saturday. The Lakers waived Colin Castleton, who played 16 games for the team last season, to make room for the undrafted rookie. Olivari is coming off an impressive preseason, averaging 8.8 points and 3.5 rebounds in four games.

The Xavier product shot 52.2% from the field, including an impressive 57.1% from beyond the arc. He finished the preseason with a 22-point performance against the Golden State Warriors. He also had seven rebounds and made five 3-point shots on 8-for-16 shooting.

Olivari went viral after the game for being emotional talking about finally meeting his childhood idol, Steph Curry.

"I don't even know what to say, man," Olivari said. "That's my favorite player ever. The first thing he told me was, 'I'm a big fan of your game,' and truth be told, I'm a big fan of him. I had his jersey, he signed it twice. I used to sleep in that jersey.

The 23-year-old guard added:

"I just wanted to be like him so bad. Just to be able to meet him, him be able to have some respect for me, and for us to talk in the back. He gave me a pair of his shoes and signed them, that meant the world to me, man. ... It just means a lot."

Quincy Olivari has plenty of chances to play against Steph Curry this season, with the LA Lakers and Golden State Warriors in the same division. The Lakers and Warriors will play against each other four times in the regular season.

Quincy Olivari earned a two-way contract due to his play in the preseason. Olivari also impressed both coach JJ Redick and LA Lakers superstar LeBron James on his way to a new deal.

Redick told reporters after the Lakers' win over the Milwaukee Bucks last week that Olivari's 3-point shooting has been impressive, as per Cincinnati.com. He was happy that one of his plays was finally executed properly with help from the Xavier product.

Olivari had been on an Exhibit 10 contract with the Lakers.
