Lakers fans have been critical of the team's GM, Rob Pelinka, this offseason, considering the need for more competitive roster pieces entering the upcoming season. With Klay Thompson and Dejounte Murray being acquired by their opponents in the Western Conference, Gary Trent Jr. joining the Milwaukee Bucks has also garnered the same kind of disappointment from the fanbase.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, the former Raptors guard has been acquired by the Bucks on a one-year deal. He previously played four seasons in Toronto and established himself as a reliable shotmaker from beyond the arc. He is envisioned to provide effective spacing for Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard.

Following the report, Lakers fans weren't too pleased with the latest development.

"Wake up Rob [Pelinka]," a fan said.

X user Hater Report (@HaterReport_) pointed out another missed opportunity for the Purple and Gold franchise.

"Lakers miss again lmao," the fan posted.

X user Jason (@jason23lake) joked that Rob Pelinka jeopardized LeBron James' chances to tie the late Kobe Bryant in the total number of NBA championships.

"Rob don't want LeBron to tie Kobe in rings," the fan posted.

X user Rob (@Robbie_Splashes) highlighted the deal Gary Trent Jr. got with the Raptors as a possible offer that LA could have matched as well.

"You're telling me the Lakers could have gotten him for a one-year deal," the fan posted.

X user Pradeep (@I_Pradeep_7) argued that LA has always struggled to acquire role players like Trent Jr.

"Lakers suck at grabbing these kinds of players as well," the fan posted.

Be that as it may, it remains to be seen if the organization's front office can pull off an offseason move that can increase their championship window this coming season.

Lakers GM briefly talked about the goal for the offseason

Before the start of this year's NBA Offseason, Lakers GM Rob Pelinka shared what the goal was for the team heading in.

"Our goal is to build a team that can compete for a championship," Pelinka said (per Los Angeles Times' Dan Woike).

As currently constructed, the team has not revamped much of how the unit looked from last season. Returning players are D'Angelo Russell, Max Christie, Jaxson Hayes, Cam Reddish and 20-time NBA All-Star LeBron James. Aside from Russell, who picked up his $18.7 million player option, the other three players have signed new contracts with the team.

Meanwhile, newcomers to the squad this upcoming season are rookies Dalton Knecht and Bronny James.

Moreover, the franchise will also be under the coaching of JJ Redick, who is envisioned to be a pivotal piece in the team's culture change after two seasons with former head coach Darvin Ham.
