This season, LeBron James will make NBA history as the first player to play alongside his son, Bronny James. During the LA Lakers Media Day, he recalled a conversation he had with his wife Savannah James over a decade ago.
LeBron brought up a story of when he and Savannah were watching Bronny James play in a kid's league when he was just five years old. After seeing his son make an impressive play, he turned to his wife and said their kid was going to be special.
"He did something, he had grabbed a rebound and like drove coast-to-coast through the lane, through a couple of the other kids and like laid it up," LeBron said to Spectrum SportsNet. "I looked over at his mom and was like he's special. She was like 'What? he's five years old.'"
Over the past few years, LeBron James has been adamant about his desire to play alongside his kids in the NBA. Now, the LA Lakers star will get to live this dream.
Seeing that he still has a lot of developing to do, there is no telling how much Bronny will play as a rookie. Nonetheless, he'll have the luxury of navigating his first year in the pros alongside his dad.

Aside from bringing up old stories about their son, LeBron James recently shared a video of Savannah making the most of this new experience. Not only are her husband and son pro athletes, but they're also in an iconic video game franchise.
In the clip that is going around on social media, Savannah is playing as Bronny in NBA 2K25. LeBron jokingly said that their child being in the game is the only way he's ever gotten her to play. Savannah was playing as Bronny in the practice mode, showing off his three-point shot.
While they might be teammates on the LA Lakers now, Bronny and LeBron James will be on two different routes this season. Fresh off winning MVP in the Olympics, the 20-time All-Star is aiming to keep LA in the playoff picture. Meanwhile, his son will be attempting to overcome the nepotism narrative hanging over his head.
After suffering a cardiac arrest in July 2023, James had a rocky freshman season at USC.
Still, Bronny found himself drafted in the second round (55th overall pick). Many feel that he was only selected and given the contract he got because of who his father is. Now, the 6-foot-2 guard has to prove to the world that he can carve out a role for himself in the pros.
No matter the circumstances, LeBron achieved his goal of becoming teammates with his son. The basketball world now waits patiently to see when the father-son duo will grace the court together for the first time.
