The Sacramento Kings added Shareef O'Neal, the son of NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal, to their roster. The younger O'Neal's journey to the league has never been the easiest, as he's stayed a good amount of time in the G League.

O'Neal shared his achievement with his followers on Instagram on Friday. He posted the team's workout gear on his IG stories with a heart emoji. This roster move came following the Kings waiving Boogie Ellis, Skal Labissiere, Terry Taylor and Brodric Thomas.

Together with O'Neal, the Kings also signed Antoine Davis and Drew Timme. All three players could play for the team's G-League affiliate, the Stockton Kings.

The youngster had a chance to work out with other Kings players. O'Neal was filmed working out with veteran forward Doug McDermott.

The son of the basketball icon declared for the NBA draft in 2022 after he finished two seasons at LSU. He went undrafted that year. During the same year, he played for the LA Lakers' 2022 Summer League. Following his stint with the Lakers, he signed with the NBA G League Ignite.

In college, although he spent four years, he only played three seasons. During his rookie year, O'Neal was UCLA's medical redshirt player as he underwent a heart surgery. He returned to the court the following season but only played 13 games.

In his three college seasons, he averaged 2.6 points and 3.0 rebounds.

Shareef O'Neal's father shared that he's 'jealous' of LeBron and Bronny James

Shareef O'Neal's father has expressed his jealousy over other NBA stars before. In the latest episode of "The Big Podcast with Shaq," he said he felt "jealous" over the situation of LeBron James and his son, Bronny James.

According to Shaq, he wants to see his son achieve his dreams of becoming an NBA star.

"I don’t know this about you, but I strive off professional jealousy. Jealous a little bit," Shaq said. "I take things that make me mad and instead of hating, I use it to motivate me. So, my son was in that position. Life is all about titles. I would have loved to have that title first. So now that we got that out of the way, I’m happy for Bron." (22:55)
