The Kings, ahead of the start of the regular season, are fixing their roster. They signed the son of the NBA legend and moved him immediately to their G-League affiliate, the Stockton Kings.

Shareef has been playing in the G League for some time now. After going undrafted in 2022, he has been trying for a roster spot in the NBA. He played for the LA Lakers in the 2022 Summer League.

Shareef O'Neal has gone through tough struggles in his career. He went through open-heart surgery for an anomalous coronary artery, a defect in the heart, when he was a freshman at LSU.

Keion Henderson recalls scary night with stepsons Shaqir O'Neal and Shareef O'Neal in Texas

Keion Henderson, stepfather to Shaqir and Shareef, recalled a frightening experience he had with his stepsons in Texas. In an episode of "The Groow Zone Podcast," Henderson shared the story with his wife, Shaunie.

He explained that while driving through Texas with Shareef, Shaqir and one of their friends on their way to a basketball practice, the boys, who were shirtless, stuck their hands out of the car windows. Noting how many tattoos both Shareef and Shaqir have, Henderson said he was "scared to death."

[30:48] "I know when people see Black men with tattoos, they see thugs," he said. "When they see others with tattoos, they see art.
"I thought, 'Oh my God, a police officer is going to pull us over and assume there are four drug dealers in this expensive car.'"

Handerson added that he asked them to put on their T-shirt and keep their hands inside the car to be safe. He also later pointed out that black men are often judged because they have art on their skin.
