Last season, Derrick White helped the Boston Celtics win their 18th championship in franchise history. Despite playing for the franchise's most historic rival, the veteran guard has received praise from LA Lakers fans.

Earlier this week, fans caught White outside and decided to ask him some questions for a video. They asked him if LeBron James was the greatest player ever, to which he is seen nodding yes.

After crowning LeBron as the GOAT, Lakers fans poured in on social media to praise Derrick White.

Other fans were calling for LA to go and acquire White for siding with LeBron over Michael Jordan.

"I've seen enough, send him to the lakers," one fan said.
"come to LA bro," another fan said.
"Derrick White is the greatest bald player of all time," said one fan.

White finally finds himself with some downtime before gearing up for the 2025 season. After playing deep into June with the Celtics, his summer was quickly thrown for a loop. Originally planning to go on a vacation with his family, White had a change of plans when he was chosen to replace Kawhi Leonard in the Olympics.

While it was an action-packed summer for White, it resulted in numerous accolades. At the age of 30, he now has an NBA title and gold medal on his resumé.

Derrick White has close ties to Boston Celtics' latest signing

This summer, the Boston Celtics inked multiple members of their core to new contracts. Among those was Derrick White, who agreed to a four-year extension worth $118 million. As the offseason comes to a close, Brad Stevens went out and signed a player with close ties to the veteran guard.

On Wednesday night, Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Lonnie Walker IV agreed to a deal with the Celtics. The former first-round pick is coming off a season with the Brooklyn Nets, where he averaged 9.7 points and shot 38.4% from beyond the arc.

With Walker joining Boston, it marks the second time he and Derrick White are teammates in the NBA. The two wings both began their careers with the San Antonio Spurs.

White landed with the Spurs, being drafted 29th overall in 2017. The following year, San Antonio selected Walker 18th overall.

Despite being a late first-round pick, White has managed to hang around in the league as a high-quality role player. He spent the first four-and-a-half years of his career with the Spurs before the Celtics traded for him in 2022.
