It was an NBA and NFL crossover at Cleveland’s Municipal Lot, where hometown stars Donovan Mitchell and Myles Garrett engaged with fans ahead of the Browns' season opener. Their interaction with the Cleveland crowd brought smiles to the fans.

Garrett joined the tailgate at the Municipal Lot to hype up the crowd and express gratitude for their unwavering support of the Browns, with Donovan Mitchell also making an appearance.

The Muni Lot in Cleveland is famous for its lively tailgating scene, where fans come together to celebrate before games, creating an electric atmosphere that's synonymous with Browns game days. Some fans humorously compared Garrett’s and Mitchell’s appearance to a "Key & Peele" sketch, particularly Garrett’s way of greeting the crowd.

“Looks like that Key and Peele Obama skit,” one fan said.

“So inspirational man I love this s**t,” one fan said.
“This is awesome,” added another.

Others noted that Mitchell’s presence in the Muni Lot shows his deep connection to the city, countering media claims that he wasn’t fully invested in Cleveland.

“Cleveland having superstars that actually love and embrace the city on all of their teams while the teams are great makes me so happy, man,” one said.
“Donovan Mitchell in the Muni Lot [and] the National media told me for 2 plus years just how much he hates being in Cleveland,” added another.

One fan, pointed out that this was a new side of Mitchell, saying:

“Don really embraced the Cleveland culture lol he never did anything like this in Utah.”

Donovan Mitchell will be in Cleveland until 2027-28 season

Though there has been speculation about Mitchell wanting to play for the New York Knicks since his Utah days, he signed a three-year extension with the Cleveland Cavaliers, securing his spot with the team until the 2027-28 season.

The final year of his new $150.3 million deal includes a player option, giving Mitchell the chance to meet the league's 10-year service criteria and pursue a five-year extension worth over $380 million by 2027.

Since joining the Cavaliers, Donovan Mitchell has averaged 27.5 points, 5.2 assists and 4.6 rebounds across 123 games.

He is targeting a strong comeback this season after being limited to just 55 regular-season games last year and missing the Cavaliers' loss to the Boston Celtics to close out the season.
