Three-time NBA champion Danny Green is retiring from the league after a 15-year career that saw him win the Larry O'Brien trophy with three different organizations. The titles came with the San Antonio Spurs (2014), Toronto Raptors (2019) and LA Lakers (2020). He also had stints with other teams such as the Philadelphia 76ers, Memphis Grizzlies and Cleveland Cavaliers.

After ESPN insider Shams Charania broke the news, some fans were unhappy with it. They believed it would've been better if Green himself announced the decision.

"Let him announce it then don’t ruin it," one fan said.
"Just let him announce his own retirement Jesus Christ," another fan said.
"Shams really ruined his retirement announcement for his podcast😭," another fan wrote.

Another fan mocked Green's popularity (or lack thereof) by saying he needed Shams to announce it to get some attention.

"Not everyone needs a podcast😭 Bro needed shams to tweet it or else no one on earth would’ve known," another fan said.

Others simply compared Charania's report to how Adrian Wojnarowski would've handled the announcement.

Danny Green is expected to make the announcement on his podcast on Thursday, which should give fans a much deeper explanation and reflection on his career.

Danny Green was one of four NBA players to win championships with three different franchises

Being a terrific 3-and-D guy, Danny Green used his skillset to help three teams become NBA champions. He joined an exclusive group of players after achieving this milestone in 2020 with the Lakers.

Green won his first title in 2014 when the San Antonio Spurs dominated every opponent on the way to the finals and then dismantled the Big Three Miami Heat in five games. Five years later, he returned to the big series with the Toronto Raptors. Green and Co. ended the series in six games, winning his second championship and the first-ever in franchise history.

The following season, he joined the LA Lakers and helped them win their first title in 10 years in the infamous Walt Disney bubble.

Green now belongs to a club with legends such as Robert Horry (Houston Rockets, Lakers and San Antonio Spurs), John Salley (Detroit Pistons, Chicago Bulls and Lakers) and LeBron James (Miami Heat, Cleveland Cavaliers and LA Lakers).
