LeBron James tricked his USA Men's Basketball teammates into an off hand shooting contest on Sunday—and won.

After a tough game against South Sudan (101-100) on Saturday, July 20, the Americans are taking things slow in preparation for their exhibition game against Germany on July 23. Their last exhibition game will take place in London before they head to France for the 2024 Paris Olympics.

While in the gym, James thought of an idea for the entire team to bond. Given that they're all competitors in the NBA, the Lakers star challenged everyone to a shooting contest. The catch? Everyone needs to shoot with their off hand.

James is known to be a naturally left-handed person; however, he uses his right when playing basketball. The four-time champion tricked his teammates into shooting with their real off hand whereas he continued using his right. In the end, the star forward won the contest and even taunted his teammates after winning.

After seeing this, fans shared their thoughts on X/Twitter.

"They should have challenged him to a strong hand shooting contest!" shared one fan.
"I mean he’s left handed smart guy you just finding out," said another.

LeBron James joked about shooting with his left hand while playing in the NBA

In December 2023, James was practicing shooting with his left hand, knocking down corner threes, and had some jokes about his plan when he turns 40.

"I'm gonna play until I'm 40. Then, after 40, I'm gonna go all left hand until I'm 45. I'm gonna score 5,000 points with my left hand. Then I'll be done," James said.

With his longevity, he has proven that he could still play in the league at a high level. However, it would mean a whole different thing if he decides to do so while shooting with his left hand. In his career, the only shots that fans have seen James comfortably shoot as a "lefty" are layups and dunks.

When it comes to jump shots, James might need to polish his form and release until he can competitively play with his left hand.
