LeBron James' mother Gloria James pays emotional tribute to Lakers superstar on National Sons Day

It's better late than never for LeBron James' super mom, Gloria James, who paid tribute to the LA Lakers superstar a few days after National Sons Day. On Monday, Gloria took to social media to greet her son on the special occasion that was originally celebrated on Sept. 28.

In a post on her official Instagram account, Gloria shared several photos of herself with her only son, who is set to enter the 22nd year of his NBA career. The two have a special bond together, with the 56-year-old mother helping LeBron achieve his dream and more.

"Happy Son's Day. Love you beyond infinity son 🖤🖤🖤🖤♾️♾️♾️♾️♾️!!!!" Gloria wrote in the caption.

Gloria James had LeBron James on Dec. 30, 1984, in her native Akron, Ohio. She was just 16 years old at the time, and LeBron's father, Anthony McClelland, was not involved at all in raising him. She worked multiple jobs to provide for herself and the future NBA great.

Fast forward to the present time, and Gloria will not only have a son in the NBA but also a grandson. LeBron's son Bronny is set to make his debut for the LA Lakers this season after getting selected 55th overall in this year's NBA draft.

LeBron and Bronny are set to make history as the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time and on the same team. There have been a lot of father-son duos in league history, but they were unable to play together or be in the NBA at the same time.

It shows LeBron James' longevity and dedication to his body, keeping himself in top shape despite turning 40 years old in less than three months. He's entering Year 22 and still among the best players in the league, fresh off winning his third Olympic gold medal.

LeBron James feels revitalized playing with Bronny

Despite being the oldest player in the NBA for the second year in a row, LeBron James feels revitalized by being able to play with his son Bronny. LeBron is looking forward to playing together with his son for the LA Lakers this season.

Speaking to reporters on Monday for the team's media day, "The King" is happy about his offseason and is confident about going for his fifth NBA championship. He credits playing for Team USA for the first time since 2012 as key to him maintaining his level of play.

"It felt great to play meaningful basketball," LeBron said. "To go out there at my age, the miles that I have, and to be able to play at the level I played at, it gave me even more of a sense of, 'OK, I do have a lot in the tank. A lot.'

"And I can help a big part of a team win the ultimate and whatever, if it's gold, or if it's a Larry O'Brien Trophy, or whatever the case may be, I can still get it done."

The LA Lakers are set to play six preseason games before welcoming the Minnesota Timberwolves on opening night at the Crypto.com Arena on Oct. 22.
