Bronny James was surprised when he made his summer league debut for the Los Angeles Lakers. The newly drafted second-round pick did not expect to have fan support at the home of the Warriors. Jovan Buha tweeted Bronny's statements about the unexpected support at the Chase Center.

"Maybe the atmosphere. It was more than I expected. I mean, it's a big game for me, but I didn't know if people from Golden State would come and rep for me. So that was pretty nice to see," Bronny James said via Jovan Buha.

The Lakers shocked a lot of fans when they went ahead and drafted LeBron James' son using their 55th pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA draft. Bronny is wearing the number 9 for the Lakers, which is oddly similar to his father, who wore the number 6 before switching it out for 23.

The Lakers played the Sacramento Kings as their first matchup in the Classic California Summer League hosted by the Kings and the Warriors together. The former USC Trojans player did not have much impact on the game on his debut. He scored four points from a 2 of 9 shooting from the field. He went 0 of 3 from downtown, missing all his three-pointers.

Bronny James lands a beautiful jumper from mid-range against the Kings

It is just the start of his career and the younger James already displayed great potential against his 108-94 loss against the Kings. Bronny James nailed a beautiful mid-range jumper from 17 feet that had the fans cheering for him. The official X account of the NBA uploaded the video of Bronny hitting the beautiful shot.

In the video, we can see Bronny James receiving the ball and skillfully dribbling it to make a great shot from midrange. The former USC player did make mistakes and missed quite a lot of shots but his technique and skills were up there with the best players in the game.

He expressed his feelings about playing for the Lakers for the first time after the game.

"Every first game that I step into the next level, it’s always some butterflies in my stomach,” Bronny said (via Guardian). “But as soon as the ball tips and we go a couple times down, it all goes away and I’m just playing basketball. So it’s always going to be there, but I’ll get through it.

The Lakers will play the Golden State Warriors on 7 July as their next opponents in the California Classic Summer League.
