The LA Lakers resumed their season on Thursday on the road against the Golden State Warriors. The Lakers entered the matchup with some momentum. They are on a three-game winning streak before the All-Star break and have won seven of their last 10 games.

Meanwhile, the Warriors played well in their last 10 contests before the All-Star break. They went 8-2 during that span to climb up the Western Conference standings. Klay Thompson came off the bench in their last game before the break and scored 35 points.

Thursday's game was just the second time the two teams faced each other this season. The Lakers won the first one 145-144 in double-overtime on Jan. 27. They will meet each other two more times this season, on Mar. 6 and Apr. 9.

Warriors beat Lakers to even season series

The Golden State Warriors made quick work of the LA Lakers on Thursday night at the Chase Center. Steph Curry started the game well, but the game was close. Anthony Davis kept the Lakers afloat, with LeBron James missing the game due to an ankle injury.

With their win over the Lakers, the Warriors are closing the gap on them in the Western Conference. They are heating up at the right time with plenty of time to gain ground on not just the Lakers but also other teams like the Phoenix Suns, Sacramento Kings, New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks.

The Warriors welcome the defending champions Denver Nuggets on Sunday, while the Lakers are back at home on Friday to face the San Antonio Spurs.
