Kevin Durant was one of the players in former President Barack Obama's starting five earlier this week. The Phoenix Suns star wasn't a surprise on the list given his greatness on full display for 17 years. When the two-time NBA champion was asked to choose the sixth man for the team, his choice was as obvious as it could get.

On Kay Adams' "Up & Adams" podcast on Thursday, when Adams asked Durant about being included in Obama's all-time starting five list, the 14-time All-Star said:

"It's just honored to be looked at as one of his top five players and to be in the same category as other greats."

When asked which player he would choose as the sixth man on Obama's team, he chose to go with a Boston Celtics great and three-time NBA champion.

"Sixth Man on that team? I would have to probably go: Larry Bird," Durant said.

In his starting five, the former U.S. president has selected Michael Jordan at shooting guard. He chose LeBron James in the forward position and Steph Curry in the point guard spot. He chose Hakeem Olajuwon at center and Kevin Durant at the forward position.

Larry Bird played 13 NBA seasons, winning three MVP awards as well as two NBA Finals MVPs.

Kevin Durant gives his starting five for NBA 2K25

When it comes to pure basketball, Kevin Durant is a pure hooper. Time and again, the NBA star has shown that basketball is his first and his last love. The Suns star was rated 94 in NBA 2K25.

When Kevin Durant was asked about his starting five for the 2K25, he made some obvious selections, but one of the names on his list was surprising. Durant named Luka Doncic, LeBron James, Joel Embiid, himself and Klay Thompson.

While Doncic, James, Embiid and KD all seem to be obvious choices, including Thompson instead of Curry is surprising. Durant said that the reason he wanted Thompson on his starting five was because he needed shooting.

Thompson has an overall rating of 81 in NBA 2K25. Curry, on the other hand, has a 95 rating, tied with LeBron James and Jayson Tatum. Curry is the NBA's all-time 3-point king and a two-time MVP.

Doncic, Nikola Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo are the highest-rated players with 97 ratings. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Joel Embiid were rated 96.
