Boston Celtics star Jaylen Brown left a comment on former teammate Marcus Smart’s latest Instagram post on Friday. Smart, who is preparing for his 11th NBA season, shared photos of himself in a Memphis Grizzlies uniform ahead of the 2024-25 season. The one-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year captioned the post:
"Year 11 Loading."
Reigning NBA Finals MVP Brown playfully trolled Marcus Smart with a hilarious comment on the Grizzlies guard's Instagram post. In one of his two remarks, Brown humorously accused Smart of using "Ozempick" and tagged the Miami Heat player Terry Rozier on the comment.
"My boy been on the ozempick @rozier," Brown wrote.
Jaylen Brown's first comment didn’t get a response from Marcus Smart, but his follow-up remark did. Brown wrote, "You look good fam!!" in a separate comment, and this time Smart replied.
"@fchwpo Lmaoo boy funny love my g," the Grizzlies star wrote
Brown and Smart spent eight years as teammates on the Boston Celtics before Smart was traded last year when the franchise brought in Jrue Holiday.
Smart watched as his former team clinched the championship last season, expressing regret that he wasn’t part of the title-winning squad after countless "battles" alongside Brown and the rest of the team.
"I was probably the most excited person for them," Smart said. on the Memphis Grizzlies media day. "We went through a lot of battles, blood, sweat and tears ... I wish I would have been a part of it because I worked so hard, but at the end of the day, they deserved it."
Brown and Smart gearing up for new season
Both Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart are preparing for the upcoming regular season. After joining the Memphis Grizzlies last year, Smart was sidelined for a significant stretch due to injuries, playing in just 20 games. The three-time NBA All-Defensive First Team member is now looking to make a strong return.
Smart has appeared in both of the Grizzlies' preseason games, averaging 18.8 minutes, five points, 2.5 assists, and 1.5 steals per game. The Grizzlies guard is set to take the court again on Saturday as the team faces off against the Chicago Bulls.
Meanwhile, Brown has played in both of the Celtics' preseason games, averaging 14.5 points, 1.5 rebounds, and 2.5 assists in 21 minutes per game. He is expected to feature in Boston's upcoming game against the Philadelphia 76ers on Saturday.
