Devin Booker and the Phoenix Suns will start their preseason on Sunday against the LA Lakers at the Acrisure Arena in Riverside County, California. Booker is coming off a stint with Team USA in France, winning his second career Olympic gold medal.
But is the four-time NBA All-Star playing tonight? The latest Suns injury report indicates that Booker will play against the Lakers. But since it's the preseason, he is likely playing limited minutes with the rest of the starters as coach Mike Budenholzer starts his stint in Phoenix.
There are only two players on the Suns injury report – Jusuf Nurkic and Ryan Dunn. Nurkic is dealing with a left middle finger injury and will be re-evaluated in a week. Dunn, on the other hand, has been dealing with a knee injury since July.
Devin Booker looking forward to preseason after an eventful training camp
Speaking to Alec Cipollini of Burn City Sports, Devin Booker opened up about a successful training camp. Booker was very happy getting a chance to work with the rest of the Phoenix Suns' expected starters next season – Kevin Durant, Bradley Beal, Jusuf Nurkic and Tyus Jones.
"Everybody is ready to go. Great energy, fresh energy, new energy. We are having fun at the same time. A lot of conditioning, a lot of hard work, lot of competing," Booker said.
The 27-year-old star added that defense will be a key in Phoenix's success this season. He recognized the need for improvement and the team is ready for the challenge.
"I think that is our main focus. We know how talented we are offensively but the quicker we can gel, the quicker the communication is between everybody and holding each other accountable, we’ll be in a pretty good place," Booker said.
The Suns have five preseason games scheduled, two against the LA Lakers and Detroit Pistons, and one versus the Denver Nuggets. They will start the regular season on the road on Oct. 23 when they visit the LA Clippers at the Intuit Dome.

The Phoenix Suns had a disappointing campaign last season after finishing sixth and getting swept in the first round of the playoffs. The Suns struggled with injuries and defense last season despite the acquisition of Bradley Beal from the Washington Wizards.
Devin Booker had another great year, averaging 27.1 points, 4.5 rebounds and 6.9 assists while shooting 49.2% from the field, including 36.4% from beyond the arc. He played in just 68 games and was hampered with several minor injuries to start the season.
