LeBron James was one of the star attractions in the New York Liberty vs Las Vegas Aces skirmish on Saturday. The LA Lakers superstar also obliged for pictures and one of the players grabbing a click was Liberty forward Nyara Sabally. This made her teammate Jonquel Jones "jealous" as she, too, wanted a picture with the 4x NBA champion. Sabally took to Instagram to share the photograph in which she posed alongside James.

Jones responded soon after, writing:

"I'm jealous I couldn't get a pic!!!!"

James and his wife Savannah were in attendance to watch the marquee clash. The Liberty took home the win, outplaying the Aces 92-80. Jones had a field day with 34 points and eight rebounds. Sabally missed the game with an injury but was on the sidelines, cheering for the side.

LeBron James expected to remain with the LA Lakers

While LeBron James has remained tight-lipped about his future, particularly with the Lakers, after their first-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets, he is expected to re-sign with the franchise. On the latest episode of the #thisleague UNCUT podcast, league insider Marc Stein shed light on the veteran's career trajectory and suggested that James will ink a new deal with the Purple and Gold.

Despite being the oldest player in the league this season, James played at an elite level, averaging 25.7 points, 8.3 assists, and 7.3 rebounds per game.

James has a $51.4 million player option in his current contract for the upcoming season. The 20x All-Star is eligible to sign a deal for up to three years and plush $162 million this summer if he decides to opt out. The Lakers, in the meantime, also had a workout with his son Bronny James ahead of the 2024 NBA Draft later this month.

The Lakers have their objectives to be met and topping the list is retaining the services of LeBron James. They have put the wheels in motion by looking for a suitable head coach who can lead the franchise after the James era and by potentially drafting Bronny James so they could keep the veteran in the fold. Only time will tell how it all pans out for James and the Lakers in what promises to be an intriguing summer.
